Garage Workshop Reveal

Our existing garage workshop area was a complete disaster that lacked some much needed storage and organization. Our plans include installing some garage flooring and reconfiguring the workshop area for a better use of the space, gain some more closed storage, and just improved functionality overall.

The Before and After

Here is a quick glimpse of what this space looked like before and how it looks after. The list of things that weren’t working in the workshop could go on forever. The main goal was to reconfigure the layout and make better use of the vertical space.

The Garage Floors

To build our dream workshop, we started from the ground up. We decided against a traditional epoxy garage flooring and wanted to try a stone composite LVP flooring instead. This is not just any LVP flooring though, it is specifically made for garages. The planks are an extra-thick 9.5 mm that use a strong click-lock system for easy installation. With a commercial-grade 27.6 mil wear layer and stone composite core, this specific flooring can withstand up to a 40,000 lb. rolling load. The built-in UV resistant layer prevents fading and the anti-mold IXPE foam backing eliminates the need for a flooring underlayment and provides a softer feel underfoot.

The overall aesthetic is what truly won me over though! The natural oak color is a welcome change after staring at concrete floors for so many years. This flooring also comes in several other color ways. They also offer coordinating accessories to choose from like stair nosing and a rubber threshold to finish the exposed edge.

The Workshop Cabinets

Initially I was torn between building out wooden cabinets for the workshop or going with more of a heavy-duty garage cabinet set. Boy, am I glad we went with these industrial-grade cabinets from Trinity! The quality is amazing, and since they arrive pre-assembled and ready to install, it saved me a ton of time They are made with fully welded 18-gauge steel frames for maximum strength and durability. I love that they come with everything you need from the adjustable shelves, to pre-cut drawer liners, to adjustable feet levelers and more.

The Workshop Extras

Library ladder dreams coming true over here! With 10-foot-high ceilings, there was no other way to utilize the vertical storage space and still be able to access everything without a permanent ladder situation. This space was just screaming for a library ladder, and it ended up being the perfect solution. It can easily be lifted off the track and stored away if needed.

Another key organization piece in the workshop is the Wall Control metal pegboard panels. They are unlike any other pegboard on the market. The slotted galvanized steel panels are available in a variety of colors and sizes. They are easy to install, easy to expand upon and reconfigure, and come with a massive variety of hooks and accessories to hang just about anything.

There are endless other features and little details in this workshop that has truly made it a dream space for me to work in. We have meet and exceeded our goal of more storage and organization space.
