Laundry Room Reveal

This is by far the hardest working room in our home! It’s the laundry room, mudroom, and pantry, all wrapped up in one tiny space. It also serves as our main entrance from the garage and the backyard. I’ve dreamt of renovating this space for many years now and I can’t wait to walk you through my vision for this workhorse of a room.

The Before

Here’s a glimpse of what this space looked like before and now it feels almost unrecognizable. There were obvious things that weren’t working in here. One lone wire shelf, the vinyl flooring, no counter space, and lack of storage to name a few! We don’t have a pantry in our kitchen, so we were in desperate need of extra closed storage space.

The Details

It all started by laying these beautiful, tumbled edge slate tiles in a herringbone pattern. The walls and ceiling are covered in  5 ½” wide shiplap boards and then color drenched in Sherwin Williams Balanced Beige. Reclaimed white oak beams were added to give the ceiling a little more dimension and some wood tones to the space.

The Laundry Side

We kept the washer and dryer in the same spot and added some upper cabinetry, as well as a tall pantry cabinet. By raising the pantry cabinet, we were able to squeeze in a feeding station for our dogs, complete with a pot filler for refilling the water bowl. The countertops are a marine black honed soapstone that was continued up the walls as the backsplash, shelf, and side splashes. I wanted a way to hide the washer and dryer when not in use, and some pleated curtains seemed like the perfect solution.

The Beverage Bar

By creating a small bump out into our garage, we gave ourselves a little more space to work with in here. From the morning coffee to the evening cocktail, this little beverage nook houses all of it. The countertops here are also a marine black honed soapstone and run up the backsplash as well.

The Arched Pocket Door

The arched pocket door has completely stolen the show, as it should! Now that this room is drool-worthy, it’s nice to get a peek of it through the glass door. You can find all the sources, supplies, and the full tutorial on how I created the arched pocket door here.

You name it, this tiny little room does it. It’s by far the busiest, hardest working space in our home. It took long time to get here, but I could not be happier with how this space turned out!
