Check out this pinch-pleated custom shower curtain I installed in my bathroom! Instead of a typical shower curtain, I wanted a more elevated style that reminded me of a luxury hotel stay— nailed it! Sometimes you have to think outside the box when it comes to custom looks. These are actually affordable custom drapes from Amazon that I decided to use as a shower curtain instead of a window covering.
And guess what? Say goodbye to your shower curtain rod and say hello to a double curtain track that is installed right into the ceiling. This gives you that floor-to-ceiling curtain length that is magazine-worthy and glides with ease. Want to learn how? Let’s go!
Supplies Needed:
- Ikea Vidga Curtain Track Set
- Two Pages Custom Pinch Pleat Linen Curtains in Oatmeal :
- Fabric: Jawara Luxury Heavyweight Linen Cotton
- Color: Oatmeal
- Header Style: Pinch Pleat
- Liner: Privacy Liner 90gsm
- Memory Shaped: Yes
- Shower Curtain Liner
Tools Needed:
Setting Up The Double Curtain Track
First, remove your old shower curtain rod and toss it in the trash. (Woohoo! No more falling rods!)
Next, I bought three of these Ikea Vidga Curtain Track Sets. Each track will hold a single curtain, mounts flush to the ceiling with the included hardware, and are easy to cut to size.
I used my Bosch Blaze laser distance measuring tool to measure the width of the shower niche.
I needed a track longer than what they had available in store (which is why I bought an extra track). You can create a longer track by joining multiple tracks together with the included hardware. You can easily cut through the track with a miter saw or hand saw to create the correct length you need.
If you’re lucky enough to hit studs in your ceiling, you’re good to mount the hardware. If not, you will need drywall anchors to mount the hardware. Mount the hardware evenly spaced into the ceiling for your two parallel rods and snap the curtain track into place. The way the hardware holds the track is pretty genius!
Attaching the Pinch Pleat Curtain
The custom pinch pleat curtains come with micro-adjustable plastic pin hooks that fit perfectly into the glider hooks that come with the curtain track.
Insert the glider hooks into the curtain track and hang the pinch pleat curtains on the glider hooks (via the provided micro-adjustable plastic pin hooks).
Add a floor-to-ceiling shower curtain liner behind the pleated linen curtain to keep water off the fabric. And if it gets too steamy, just crack open the shower liner to let that steam escape. I was amazed at how many people on Instagram were worried about the shower getting too steamy— I’m the opposite!
