DIY Leather Napkin Rings

With Easter right around the corner, I thought now would be the perfect time to share these DIY leather napkin rings. They are so quick and easy to make and require minimal supplies.

Supplies Needed:

Tools Needed

Step 1: Cut the Leather

We’re going to start by cutting down the leather straps. I found 6 3/4” to be the perfect napkin ring size. The ruler that came with the leather punch tool was exactly 6 3/4” in length, so it came in very handy for cutting down the leather straps.

Step 2: Punch the Leather

Now that the leather straps are cut down to size, it’s time to punch the holes for the rivets. Set the leather punch to the 2mm size hole. On one end of the leather strap, punch a hole around 3/8” to 1/2” in from the end.

Next, adjust the leather punch to the 4mm and punch another hole on the other end of the leather strap. Same process as the other hole we made, right between 3/8” to 1/2” in from the end

Once again, I found the ruler that came with the leather punch to be very helpful. I basically used it as a guide for making the holes. I lined up the edge of the rule (the side with the hole in it) with the edge of the leather strap. I punched the holes right in the middle of the hole in the ruler.

Step 3: Add the Rivets

The back side of the rivets simply unscrew. Thread the smaller screw side through the first 2mm hole we made and then screw the ball head side on. The ball fits nice and snug through the other 4mm hole.

I ordered 2 rolls of the leather straps and two packages of the rivets. I ended up making 14 total napkin rings. I hope you give this a try!
