I am so excited to participate in my first ever One Room Challenge this spring. If you are not familiar with this event, over the course of 6 weeks participants have to transform an entire room and document it week by week. You can check back here every Thursday to view the progress and check out other ORC projects. Due to COVID-19, the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge is running for 8 weeks to give participants more time to complete their rooms.
Over the next 8 weeks, I will be completely transforming one room in our house alongside many other bloggers and designers. I’ve chosen to makeover our youngest son’s bedroom. He has requested a dinosaur room, so this momma is going to make that happen. His room is long overdue for an update, so I’m looking forward to taking his room from nursery to big-boy room in just 8 weeks time.
BEFORE PHOTOS
Here is what the room currently looks like. I swapped out the crib for a full size bed, but it’s quickly becoming a mismatched mess. So here are the before photos when it looked a little more put-together. You can also view the full nursery details in this blog post.
THE PLAN
This is what I am hoping to accomplish over the next 8 weeks:
- Week 1: Before Photos
- Week 2: Design plans, mood board, and inspiration
- Week 3: Painting and prepping the bedframe
- Week 4: Ikea Svalnas hack
- Week 5: Dresser makeover
- Week 6: DIY artwork
- Week 7: Finishing touches
- Week 8: The final reveal
So, do you think this can be done? Are you ready to follow along? I’ll be sharing my progress on my Instagram feed and in stories, so you can follow along there as well. And be sure to check out the other ORC participants and their projects here.

The nursery was so cute that I know the new room is going to be great too
Thank you Lindsey!!
What is the wall paint color?
It’s actually a custom paint color. I have a picture of the paint can lid formula on this blog post:
