Builder Grade Bathroom Makeover Reveal

I’m so excited to show you the complete builder grade bathroom remodel makeover that I just finished! This project has been one of my favorites and the labor of love I put into it was so well worth it. From a dark and dreary brown cabinet bathroom before, to a light and airy bathroom with vintage vibes after, it’s just dreamy. Let me walk you through it.

Drab to Fab: Before Pics

Getting ready every single day in my old bathroom was not one of my favorite things to do, but now it is! Here’s a before picture of exactly how this bathroom started. Between the dark wood cabinets, the typical builder grade mirror, the drab dark walls and the old silver fixtures— this bathroom didn’t have much of a personality. And if you think of all the time we actually spend in the bathroom, that’s not how I wanted to start each day. So it was time for a change!

The Reno

First things first, we carefully taped and removed the old mirror and all fixtures. Then I added shiplap to the walls to create some texture and add dimension. Next up, I painted the entire bathroom with my paint sprayer which saves so much time if you haven’t tried it yet.

Afterwards, I painted the ceilings, then added wallpaper which really carries your eyes around the room and makes it appear larger than it is. Plus, it gives it some well needed personality— wallpaper truly helps a room tell a story and invoke a feeling. This is such a fun thing to pick out and hang! It makes a huge difference in a space and I really loved finding and using this vintage style wallpaper.

When it came time to accessorizing I knew I didn’t want to put up one single mirror, but instead I wanted two mirrors, one over each sink. But…I wanted them to have character and a vintage feel so I made these DIY Scalloped Bathroom Mirrors. I wrote a whole blog article for you about them so you can learn step-by-step how to build them too! Check it out here.

Since those scalloped mirrors came out so beautifully, I wanted to extend more of the scalloped feature throughout the bathroom, so I created Scalloped Floating Bathroom Shelves. I used the same scalloped shape as the mirrors to trim out the shelves and created a focal point that I accessorized with my favorite art pieces. I find when you add art in your bathroom it elevates the style so much more. You can read the blog on how to create your own DIY Scalloped Floating Bathroom Shelves here.

Another statement piece in this vintage style bathroom makeover is the pinch pleat shower curtain. These are actually affordable custom drapes from Amazon that I decided to use as a shower curtain instead of a window covering. I installed a double curtain track to hang the curtain and the shower liner and share all the details in this DIY Custom Pinch Pleat Shower Curtain blog post here.

After that, it was adding the finishing touches like the window curtains, drawer pulls, faucets, light fixture, and all the accessories to create the final look. Here are a few close ups.

What do you think? Do you like this vintage style bathroom makeover? Are you a fan of the scalloped touches? I’d love to know in the comments!
