Three Simple Changes to Give Your Kitchen a Whole New Look

Updating your kitchen doesn’t always require a full renovation. Swapping out a few simple things can make all the difference. Here are the three things we changed in our kitchen to give it a whole new look.

1. Hardware

Hardware can be one of the simplest and cheapest ways to update your kitchen cabinets. With a range of prices, styles, and finishes, there are hundreds of hardware combinations to give your cabinetry a whole new look. I went with unlacquered brass pulls and knobs for our white kitchen. I love that they will patina and age over time.

Don’t have new hardware in the budget? Try painting your existing hardware.

2. Lighting

Lighting can make or break a space, especially in the kitchen where it’s essential to have good lighting to perform tasks, like preparing meals. Lighting can also either be a huge statement or it can be subtle and minimal. I went with a more subtle look for our new pendants. The white shade blends in with our white cabinetry and the touch of brass keeps it interesting.

Don’t have new lighting in the budget? Try keeping your existing pendant fixtures, but swap out the shade.

3. Bar Stools

The last change we made was switching out our bar stools. With endless possibilities, I think it’s best to keep functionality in mind on this one. Stick with what will work for you and your situation. We have kids, so we are forgoing a cushy, upholstered seat for something that is easy to clean. These vintage-inspired bentwood stools were the perfect find and just what I was looking for.

Don’t have new bar stools in the budget? Try to score a set of bar stools off Facebook Marketplace or Craig’s List.

I hope this post encourages you to work with what you have. You don’t always need a full renovation to update the look of your kitchen. What are some other simple ways to update your kitchen?
